Feeling Groovy

Who says a conservative hippie has to change their taste in music? The first album I ever bought was Melanie. Here she sings “Beautiful People.”  I still think she is groovy.

Then there is the best band of all. THE BEATLES! Here is “Hey Jude.”

I give you the true queen of Rock. No one will ever do it like Janis Joplin! Janis singing “Little Girl blue.”

Then what hippie didn’t like Joan Baez? I still think her voice is probably the most beautiful in the world. Here she is doing “Prison Trilogy.”

Peter, Paul and Mary. Has there ever been three voices that ever sounded so beautiful together? I don’t think so. Here they are doing “Early Morning Rain.”

Then there are four voices that sounded great together. The Mamas and Papas! “California Dreaming.”

The second greatest group ever; the Moody Blues! True artists performing “Tuesday Afternoon.”

What guitar playing hippie didn’t try to learn this song? “House of the Rising Sun” by the Animals. What clean cut boys. I wonder if they were?

Kansas performing “Dust in the Wind.”

This song will always make me want to get up and move! Get down with Steam performing “Na Na Na Na Hey Kiss Him Goodbye.”

Thanks to OhHowILoveJesus for reminding me of this great piece of art from back in our time. Viet Nam was a war a lot of us back in our youth protested. Barry McGuire was able to portray our hearts in “Eve of Destruction.”

Buffalo Springfield knew how to portray what was going on in the nation with “For What it’s Worth.” I can still jam to this one after all these years.

A really peace and love song from my era was The Youngbloods with “Get Together.”

Scot Mckenzie “If you’re going to San Fransico” made me daydream of places I could never go. I love the song as much now as I did then.

Very interesting interpretation of the meaning of America Pie by Don Mclean. A classic song.

A popular druggie song from my era “White Rabbit” by Jefferson Airplane. I still like this song in spite of its’ meaning. Also is “Somebody to Love.” Grace Slick sure had a great set of lungs. What a powerful voice.
