Obama makes everyone sacrifice but himself

Let us compare two historical situations. One took place several thousand years ago. The other took place on Monday.

According to legend, during the 13th century B.C., there was a Greek king named Agamemnon. He was bound and determined to attack and raze the city of Troy. When Agamemnon sought to launch his ships for Troy, however, the goddess Artemis sent a stagnant wind to stop Agamemnon’s fleet. Agamemnon responded by calling out his daughter, Iphigenia, and sacrificing her to appease Artemis.

Fast forward to last Monday. In announcing the bankruptcy of General Motors, President Barack Obama spoke directly to all those who would lose their jobs and their livelihoods.

“I want you to know that what you’re doing is making a sacrifice for the next generation – a sacrifice you may not have chose to make, but a sacrifice you were nevertheless called to make so that your children and all of our children can grow up in an America that still makes things; that still builds cars; that still strives for a better future,” he said.

Obama is fond of calling upon Americans to make sacrifices – or rather, he is fond of forcing Americans into sacrificing themselves at a time and place of his choosing. Heroic sacrifice requires volunteerism, or at least an element of extraordinary choice; Obama’s sort of sacrifice runs along Agamemnon-esque lines. He names the time and the place, and you are expected to put your neck on the altar.

Obama’s sacrificial ideology is particularly egregious because it targets minority groups who can do nothing to defend themselves. Obama targets the taxpaying minority, forcing them to pay for bank bailouts and auto gratuities while falsely promising that taxpayers will earn that money back (when do we get our checks?). He targets GM bondholders, the same folks whose retirement money has been keeping the ailing carmaker afloat; his new bankruptcy plan makes their holdings worthless. He demonizes Chrysler’s investors as “speculators” and attempts to portray them as villains in Chrysler’s demise. He forces banks to take TARP money, then defenestrates bank chiefs and caps executive pay.

It would be one thing if Obama expected all Americans to sacrifice equally. Clearly, however, he does not. He, for one, isn’t willing to sacrifice – he’s ready to spend $24,000 of taxpayer money to take his wife on a date to New York. And Obama doesn’t expect his allies to sacrifice, either. The United Auto Workers, whom Obama has praised for its “sacrifice,” now owns a majority of Chrysler and a huge chunk of GM; not coincidentally, UAW gave millions to Obama’s campaign. Obama refused to bail out California unless it revoked pay cuts for members of the Service Employees International Union; not coincidentally, SEIU gave $33 million to Obama’s campaign.

Obama’s self-centered idea of sacrifice – sacrifice yourself on Obama’s behalf, or he’ll sacrifice you – doesn’t stop at the water’s edge. America’s foreign allies are feeling similar pressure to sacrifice themselves for Obamemnon’s glory. Thus, Obama presses Israel to stop building new houses in Jewish Jerusalem while encouraging Palestinian Arabs to build illegal settlements within Jerusalem. Thus, Obama tacitly allows Iran to develop nuclear weapons and reaches out to the illegitimate mullahs while stifling any freedom movement within Iran. Thus, Obama allows China to violate human rights while offering them the Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for their supposed work on global warming – all in order to entice China to keep buying our debt. Sacrifice, it seems, is only to be made by those who least deserve to make it.

There is one crucial difference between Agamemnon and Obama: Agamemnon led his troops to victory at Troy. Iphigenia was merely an innocent bystander used to accomplish his purposes. Obama, by contrast, is bound to lead America to ruin precisely because of the sacrifices he is forcing upon the most productive Americans and our most important allies.

Obama’s philosophy makes the sacrifice of individual liberty irrelevant to the broader communal good as he defines it. What we are losing on the Altar of Obamemnon is far more than a few bucks – it is the fundamental basis of free government.

Truth Speaker: Ann Coulter on Tiller the Baby Killer

I just love this woman! Shes’ got more nerve than any Republican in congress. Keep tell it like it is Ann!

In the wake of the shooting of late-term abortionist George Tiller, President Barack Obama sent out a welcome message that this nation would not tolerate attacks on pro-lifers or any other Americans because of their religion or beliefs.

Ha ha! Just kidding. That was the lead sentence – with minor edits – of a New York Times editorial warning about theoretical hate crimes against Muslims published eight months after 9/11. Can pro-lifers get a hate crimes bill passed and oceans of ink devoted to assuring Americans that “most pro-lifers are peaceful”?

For years, we’ve had to hear about the grave threat that Americans might overreact to a terrorist attack committed by 19 Muslims shouting “Allahu akbar” as they flew commercial jets into American skyscrapers. That would be the equivalent of 19 pro-lifers shouting “Abortion kills a beating heart!” as they gunned down thousands of innocent citizens in Wichita, Kan.

Why aren’t liberals rushing to assure us this time that “most pro-lifers are peaceful”? Unlike Muslims, pro-lifers actually are peaceful.

According to recent polling, a majority of Americans oppose abortion – which is consistent with liberals’ hysterical refusal to allow us to vote on the subject. In a country with approximately 150 million pro-lifers, five abortionists have been killed since Roe v. Wade.

In that same 36 years, more than 49 million babies have been killed by abortionists. Let’s recap that halftime score, sports fans: 49 million to five.

Meanwhile, fewer than 2 million Muslims live in America and, while Muslims are less murderous than abortionists, I’m fairly certain they’ve killed more than five people in the United States in the last 36 years. For some reason, the number “3,000″ keeps popping into my head.

So in a country that is more than 50 percent pro-life – and 80 percent opposed to the late-term abortions of the sort performed by Tiller – only five abortionists have been killed. And in a country that is less than 0.5 percent Muslim, several dozen Muslims have killed thousands of Americans.

But the killing of about one abortionist per decade leads liberals to condemn the entire pro-life movement as “domestic terrorists.” At least liberals have finally found some terrorists they’d like to send to Guantanamo.

Tiller bragged about performing 60,000 abortions, including abortions of viable babies, able to survive outside the mother’s womb. He made millions of dollars performing late-term abortions so gruesome that only two other abortionists – not a squeamish bunch – in the entire country would perform them.

Kansas law allows late-term abortions only to save the mother’s life or to prevent “irreversible physical damage” to the mother. But Tiller was more than happy to kill viable babies, provided the mothers: 1) forked over $5,000; and 2) mentioned “substantial and irreversible conditions,” which, in Tiller’s view, apparently included not being able to go to concerts or rodeos or being “temporarily depressed” on account of their pregnancies.

In return for blood money from Tiller’s profitable abattoir, Democrats ran a political protection racket for the late-term abortionist.

In 1997, the Washington Post reported that Tiller attended one of Bill Clinton’s White House coffees for major campaign contributors. In addition to a $25,000 donation to Clinton, Tiller wanted to thank him personally for 30 months of U.S. Marshals’ protection paid for by the U.S. taxpayer.

Kansas Democrats who received hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars from Tiller repeatedly intervened to block any interference with Tiller’s abortion mill.

Kathleen Sebelius, who was the governor of Kansas until Obama made her health and human services secretary, received hundreds of thousands of campaign dollars from Tiller. Sebelius vetoed one bill restricting late-term abortions and another one that would have required Tiller to turn over his records pertaining to “substantial and irreversible conditions” justifying his late-term abortions.

Kansas Attorney General Paul Morrison also got elected with the help of Tiller’s blood money, replacing a Republican attorney general who was in the middle of an investigation of Tiller for various crimes including his failure to report statutory rapes, despite performing abortions on pregnant girls as young as 11.

But soon after Morrison replaced the Republican attorney general, the charges against Tiller were reduced and, in short order, he was acquitted of a few misdemeanors. In what is a not uncommon cost of doing business with Democrats, Morrison is now gone, having been forced to resign when his mistress charged him with sexual harassment and corruption.

Tiller was protected not only by a praetorian guard of elected Democrats, but also by the protective coloration of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America – coincidentally, the same church belonged to by Tiller’s fellow Wichita executioner, the BTK killer.

The official Web page of the ELCA instructs: “A developing life in the womb does not have an absolute right to be born.” As long as we’re deciding who does and doesn’t have an “absolute right to be born,” who’s to say late-term abortionists have an “absolute right” to live?

I wouldn’t kill an abortionist myself, but I wouldn’t want to impose my moral values on others. No one is for shooting abortionists. But how will criminalizing men making difficult, often tragic, decisions be an effective means of achieving the goal of reducing the shootings of abortionists?

Following the moral precepts of liberals, I believe the correct position is: If you don’t believe in shooting abortionists, then don’t shoot one.

Voted for Obama? Let me ask you…

For those of you who voted for Obama and want Socialism, let me ask what part of socialism do you like?

The part where the hard working middle class people have to pay for the bums all across the land?

The part where the rich are taxed so badly that they can no longer create jobs for the rest of us?

The part where healthcare is taken over by government and then we will have no choice in doctors and have to wait an eternity just to see one? Or how about the fact that this new administration from hell has said that the elderly will be on the bottom of the list for health care. Why? Because the senior citizens have lived their lives. Just as they have no regard for the unborn, they will have no regard for you should you live to be a ripe old age. Unless, you are some use to them and their agenda.

Maybe you like the part where “hate” crime means the life of a homosexual is more important than the life of my heterosexual brother or my elderly mother just because someone is homo?

Do you like the part where babies can be murdered in the womb just because it is so convenient? Not to say at tax payers expense. Or maybe you like where the American tax payer will foot the bill for abortions all across the world. God will not put up with this kind of murdering of innocents much longer! He sets before us life and death–choose life!

Do you uphold and like the belief that all religions are fine, except for Christianity? Let me say now; Jesus is the only way to heaven. If you don’t like that, too bad. I will not apologize for the truth and I will not sugar-coat it for the sake of a fake peace just to get along with you.

Do you like the part where hard working every day people have to work their butts off to put their child through college while someone else’s no-count kid gets to have baby after baby at tax payer expense and go to college for free? While one young person is working his/her butt off, the other one gets to sit on his/her butt and collect all kinds of stuff from the state. I guess that is “fair” though cause she is a “single” mother. I know this sounds crude, never the less it is true; she put herself in that position every time she opened her legs and let the different “daddies” stick it to her. So YOU tell me, why should the one who did it wrong be rewarded for her bad choices.

And that no–count punk young man who has fathered child after child and not expected to pay child support. Do you like paying for his kids with your taxes?

Or maybe you like the part where this pig government is going to force every company in this nation to have health care for their employees. Whether they can afford it or not. Buy your own health care is what I say. People always spend their money on what they want to spend it on. Booze, cigs, pot, dope, fancy cars, fancy homes, electronics, cell phones, computers, etc. Then they expect someone else to come along and pay off their doctor bills. What a crock!

Or maybe you like the part where government wants to enforce THEIR very own sense of morality on the rest of us. Telling me I HAVE to accept certain things or else it is “hate.” On the same hand they can say anything and everything about my faith. But I had better not disagree or else I am the one accused of hate. Hypocrites! And you dare not stand for truth?!

Right now in the past week, two people were murdered in cold blood; one an abortionist baby killer and the other a soldier of the United States murdered by a Muslim. Are you willing to speak out for both murders being just as wrong as the next? Or are you making one (Tiller, the baby killer) a martyr? If so, then you are a hypocrite and you can not see the difference between one life being evil and the other noble for defending your right to believe what ever lies you want to believe.

Do you like the part where government takes over businesses and people end up losing their jobs, all in the name of sacrifice? While YOUR president flits all around the nation to plays and restaurants, like some kind of king–at tax payers expense.

Or maybe you like the part where we right wingers are now called terrorists because we believe in God, hate communism, against abortion and gay marriage. Oh and yep, we cling to our guns and religion. If you particularly like this one, then we definitely have nothing in common because you are a true coward and have made yourself an enemy of what is supposed to be the freest nation on earth by not even having the guts to stand up for what the truth is and against the true terrorists in this nation.

Maybe you like the bill they want to pass to keep everyday people from having their own little private garden? Where it would be a “crime” to pass a neighbor a tomato over the fence unless government has come in and had rights to it first. Oh, and let us not forget all the regulations–we must be good citizens and do it just like government says. This kind of government can stick it where the sun don’t shine!

What about the part that wants illegal aliens in this country just so they can be used to build their voting block while YOU and I pay for all their FREE benefits?

Maybe you like government owning businesses? People losing their jobs. Oh how pig man Obama loves to create a crisis. It just makes things better for him to take control. When it happens, people will be BEGGING government to fix things. And then they will do ANYTHING to continue getting that welfare check. Even spy on their neighbor or report them to the civilian force that this pig wants to set up. Will you be one of them? Would you be willing to turn me in for disagreeing with this government just so you would could get government goodies? Do not think it can’t happen. It most certainly will.

Or the hate speech crime that would shut people up like me because we disagree with his majesty, Obama, the socialist pig, maybe you like that one? Guess what? I will NOT shut up. He is a pig and all those who think I owe them something because of the poor mistakes they made in life, because of the color of their skin, because of their disgusting sexual aberration, because they are here illegally, whatever…are pigs too. I don’t give a royal rip who it is.

Do you like the part where liars call good evil and evil good? Do not think God will not be your judge as well as those who set up ungodly laws and standards.

How about teaching little kids sex education (homosexuality) without parent’s permission? Do you like that one? If so, then you are as perverse as those who desire to strip the rights away from parents, indoctrinating children all across this great land.

Maybe you like the idea that socialism promises everyone to be equal. To that I would say what gives you or Obama the right to force me or your neighbor to work harder than the next just so they can have their frikkin dream house that they can not afford?!

Maybe you think we all can just sit in a universal circle and sing Kumbya or Give Peace a Chance and well, we all will just get along. Wrong.

Do you like the part where Obama is going all around the world apologizing for us? What do you think it will accomplish other than making us look weak and have our enemies laughing at us? Your leader is a sissy! Be honest–if someone was breaking into your home and threatening you and your family, who would you rather have protecting you–Obama or any limp-wristed liberal man, or John Wayne? You know which one you would choose. So don’t be a hypocrite!

Do you like the part where Obama and his people desire to see YOU serve (become indoctrinated) whether you want to or not?

For the record, I will NOT serve, so what about that? Are you going to be one of the ones that may come knocking on my door to recruit me? What will you do when I tell you to shove it? Report me, so you can continue to get goodies form your pig government?

Are you expecting to get some “freebies?” NOTHING is free. You WILL pay a price.

Do you like the part where Obama is being hailed as some great world leader? Just remember when he bows before any man on this earth, he will expect the same from you.

As for me, I bow before no man.

What part of the stimulus package to you expect to get? Do you think it will come without a price?

Do you like the part that wants to give homosexuals some kind of special rights just because of their sexual preference? If so, you are as vile as they are in their aberrations. Do not think a Holy God will not judge a nation for it’s sexual sins. He most certainly will.

Maybe you like the part where it is called art, and the right of perverts in San Fransico to parade nude in painted bodies before the whole city; including in front of small children.

Or maybe you just like your “leader” to be one who has promised to take care of you? Oh at the tax payers’ expense I might add. Let me say here, if you truly believe that man (who is a type of anti-christ) cares for you, you are very mistaken. He would as soon get rid of you when he is done using you as anyone else. He will use you and abuse you and you will not even know it because he and his minions will have already indoctrinated you so well, that you will believe government is the answer to all the problems in the world. You will pay a price one day. You will pay a dear price.

The day is approaching of a one world currency, one world religion, one world everything. The stage is being set right now. People like me will be looked upon as “enemies of the state.” Know now, I will NOT be part of that world. I warn you now. You make God in heaven your enemy if you make this or any other government your god!

 

 

Russian Newspaper: American decent into Marxism

It must be said, that like the breaking of a great dam, the American decent into Marxism is happening with breath taking speed, against the back drop of a passive, hapless sheeple, excuse me dear reader, I meant people.

True, the situation has been well prepared on and off for the past century, especially the past twenty years. The initial testing grounds was conducted upon our Holy Russia and a bloody test it was. But we Russians would not just roll over and give up our freedoms and our souls, no matter how much money Wall Street poured into the fists of the Marxists.

Those lessons were taken and used to properly prepare the American populace for the surrender of their freedoms and souls, to the whims of their elites and betters.

First, the population was dumbed down through a politicized and substandard education system based on pop culture, rather then the classics. Americans know more about their favorite TV dramas then the drama in DC that directly affects their lives. They care more for their “right” to choke down a McDonalds burger or a BurgerKing burger than for their constitutional rights. Then they turn around and lecture us about our rights and about our “democracy”. Pride blind the foolish.

Then their faith in God was destroyed, until their churches, all tens of thousands of different “branches and denominations” were for the most part little more then Sunday circuses and their televangelists and top protestant mega preachers were more then happy to sell out their souls and flocks to be on the “winning” side of one pseudo Marxist politician or another. Their flocks may complain, but when explained that they would be on the “winning” side, their flocks were ever so quick to reject Christ in hopes for earthly power. Even our Holy Orthodox churches are scandalously liberalized in America.

The final collapse has come with the election of Barack Obama. His speed in the past three months has been truly impressive. His spending and money printing has been a record setting, not just in America’s short history but in the world. If this keeps up for more then another year, and there is no sign that it will not, America at best will resemble the Wiemar Republic and at worst Zimbabwe.

These past two weeks have been the most breath taking of all. First came the announcement of a planned redesign of the American Byzantine tax system, by the very thieves who used it to bankroll their thefts, loses and swindles of hundreds of billions of dollars. These make our Russian oligarchs look little more then ordinary street thugs, in comparison. Yes, the Americans have beat our own thieves in the shear volumes. Should we congratulate them?

These men, of course, are not an elected panel but made up of appointees picked from the very financial oligarchs and their henchmen who are now gorging themselves on trillions of American dollars, in one bailout after another. They are also usurping the rights, duties and powers of the American congress (parliament). Again, congress has put up little more then a whimper to their masters.

Then came Barack Obama’s command that GM’s (General Motor) president step down from leadership of his company. That is correct, dear reader, in the land of “pure” free markets, the American president now has the power, the self given power, to fire CEOs and we can assume other employees of private companies, at will. Come hither, go dither, the centurion commands his minions.

So it should be no surprise, that the American president has followed this up with a “bold” move of declaring that he and another group of unelected, chosen stooges will now redesign the entire automotive industry and will even be the guarantee of automobile policies. I am sure that if given the chance, they would happily try and redesign it for the whole of the world, too. Prime Minister Putin, less then two months ago, warned Obama and UK’s Blair, not to follow the path to Marxism, it only leads to disaster. Apparently, even though we suffered 70 years of this Western sponsored horror show, we know nothing, as foolish, drunken Russians, so let our “wise” Anglo-Saxon fools find out the folly of their own pride.

Again, the American public has taken this with barely a whimper…but a “freeman” whimper.

So, should it be any surprise to discover that the Democratically controlled Congress of America is working on passing a new regulation that would give the American Treasury department the power to set “fair” maximum salaries, evaluate performance and control how private companies give out pay raises and bonuses? Senator Barney Franks, a social pervert basking in his homosexuality (of course, amongst the modern, enlightened American societal norm, as well as that of the general West, homosexuality is not only not a looked down upon life choice, but is often praised as a virtue) and his Marxist enlightenment, has led this effort. He stresses that this only affects companies that receive government monies, but it is retroactive and taken to a logical extreme, this would include any company or industry that has ever received a tax break or incentive.

The Russian owners of American companies and industries should look thoughtfully at this and the option of closing their facilities down and fleeing the land of the Red as fast as possible. In other words, divest while there is still value left.

The proud American will go down into his slavery with out a fight, beating his chest and proclaiming to the world, how free he really is. The world will only snicker.

What do you call a man, a leader, a president of the greatest country in the history of the world that daily ignores constitutional strictures like separation of powers, which limits executive power? What do you call a pathological narcissist that daily creates vast, new totalitarian powers for himself by executive decree while the slavish Democrats, the irrelevant Republicans and the servile liberal media bow to his every will? How would you characterize Wall Street, private corporations, education, medicine, housing and energy who collectively tremble in fear if they don’t obey his latest unconstitutional commands, that they will be the next recipient of his vengeful wrath?

The recent headlines on DrudgeReport.com told the grim tale of Big Brother 2009, aka Obama Inc.:

“Number of unemployed getting benefits climbs to record 8.9%”
“Obama vows to retrain”
BIG BUDGET BLOWOUT: $3,400,000,000,000.00 SPENDS $11,300 FOR EACH AMERICAN”
“Massachusetts welfare recipients provided cars at taxpayers expense”
“GM post $6 billion loss for first quarter”
“National bailout agency for U.S. cities”
“Computer sold on eBay ‘had details of top secret missile defense system’”
“Chinese and U.S. ships clash – for fifth time”

To a rational person who loves America and respects the traditions of the Founding Fathers, anti-federalism and executive restraint, the headlines are gut-wrenching, but to a proud fascist like President B. Hussein Obama, those dire headlines above read like the soothing, euphonious strains of a Wagnerian opera. And like Wagner’s primo uomo, “Siegfried,” a man who literally went to hell and back to learn how to fear, only more socialism, anarchy and nihilism can set the proper pretext for this Grand Finale. Only in Chaos Theory can the stage be adequately prepared for Obama Inc. to appear stage left to save America. Yet there is no salvation, no redemption – only a hellish, eternal nightmare that he himself created!

What is Obama Inc. (incorporated)? Like the title suggests, it is our president’s systematic, comprehensive plan to takeover and dominate every conceivable aspect of our lives from the cradle to the grave. But more diabolically, Obama Inc. seeks to have omnipotent, irrevocable dictatorial power over every American citizen. I call this aspect of Obama Inc. the Democrat Eternity Act (DEA).

Obama is utterly a revolutionary figure following a long, ignoble tradition of former great tyrants like Nebuchadnezzar, Caesar, Muhammad, Henry VIII, Napoleon, Mussolini, Woodrow Wilson, FDR, LBJ, Putin, Chavez and others. Obama Inc. thinks in grand, over-arching, totalizing themes rather than simply single programs as Clinton did with gays in the military or national health care in 1993. No, no, no – one program, even one-seventh of America’s entire multi-trillion dollar economy, is much too small for Obama Inc. to be bothered with.

In an earlier article I wrote last year titled, “How Thomas Hobbes is helping destroy America,” I predicted that through the natural development of ideas over time, society, culture, law, politics, economics, philosophy and all disciplines of knowledge would soon be exploited by a future demagogue that would transform America into a dictatorship.

I wrote:

After War World II, the Supreme Court’s liberal view of a “living Constitution” and “evolving standards of decency” led to radical judicial activist opinions in the areas of racial segregation, civil rights, separation of church and state and the so-called “right to privacy” – in cases like Everson v. Board of Education (1947), Brown v. Board of Education (1954), Gideon v. Wainwright (1963), Griswold v. Connecticut (1965) and Miranda v. Arizona (1966) – leading to an entire cottage industry of new rights like the Court’s abortion finding in Roe v. Wade (1973) and 30 years later to the constitutional right to homosexual sodomy in Lawrence v. Texas (2003).
You can thank Thomas Hobbes for elevating our racialist, humanist, childish, sexual and vulgar desires to the legitimate level of constitutional rights.

According to a recent Supreme Court opinion in California, homosexual marriage has once again been raised to the standard of a constitutional “right” by this overtly activist court over the explicit will of the people. It will be interesting where this and numerous other hot button issues takes society as courts grapple with “rights” vs. “privileges,” “property rights” vs. “liberty interests,” etc. Has this “due process explosion” of the 1950s, ’60s and ’70s, as federal judge Henry Friendly opined, fundamentally altered the ability of government to manage schools, bureaucracy, agencies, culture, society … ourselves? I think it has.

One hundred ten days after taken the oath as president of the United States, who would have thought that Obama Inc., led by this unremarkable pol, this intellectually vacuous fascist from Harvard, could have achieved so much, so soon, yet here we are in the midst of a burgeoning totalitarian State equal in every respect but the year of George Orwell’s “1984″ – nevertheless we appear too stupid to realize where we are.

Ignorance (I don’t know) and apathy (I don’t care) are the twin narcotic drugs Obama Inc. has used to lobotomize America over the past 100 days, but his Machiavellian tactics go further back 100 years to Woodrow Wilson, who, according to Jonah Goldberg’s excellent book, “Liberal Fascism,” was America’s first fascist president. Interestingly, Wilson’s fascism (1913) predated Lenin’s Bolshevik Revolution (1917) by four years and Mussolini’s fascism (1922) by nine years.

Finally, precursors of Obama Inc. could be heard 330 years ago in the writings of the great English political philosopher Thomas Hobbes (1588–1679) who prophesied a tyrannical political figure like Obama in his magnum opus, “Leviathan” (1651) and summarized his entire oeuvre in one telling, succinct last utterance from his deathbed – A great leap into the dark.

Unless this narcissist, Manchurian Candidate is stopped, America will soon be plunged into a new Dark Age called Obama Inc.

Ann Coulter: Watching MSNBC is torture

The media wail about “torture,” but are noticeably short on facts.

Liberals try to disguise the utter wussification of our interrogation techniques by constantly prattling on about “the banality of evil.”

Um, no. In this case, it’s actually the banality of the banal.

Start with the fact that the average Gitmo detainee has gained 20 pounds in captivity. There’s even a medical term for it now: “the Gitmo gut.” Some prisoners have been heard whispering, “If you think Allah is great, you should try these dinner rolls.”

In terms of “torture,” there was “the attention grasp,” which you have seen in every department store you have ever been where a mother was trying to get her misbehaving child’s attention. If “the attention grasp” doesn’t work, the interrogators issue a stern warning: “Don’t make me pull this car over.”

Further up the parade of horribles was “walling,” which I will not describe except to say Eliot Spitzer paid extra for it.

And for the most hardened terrorists, CIA interrogators had “the caterpillar.” Evidently, the terrorists have gotten so fat on the food at Guantanamo, now they can’t even outrun a caterpillar.

Contrary to MSNBC hosts who are afraid of bugs, water and their own shadows, waterboarding was most definitely not a “war crime” for which the Japanese were prosecuted after World War II – no matter how many times Mrs. Jonathan Turley, professor of cooking at George Washington University, says so.

All MSNBC hosts and guests were apparently reading “Little Women” rather than military books as children and therefore can be easily fooled about Japanese war crimes. (MSNBC: The Official Drama Queen Network of the 2012 Olympics.)

Given what the Japanese did to prisoners, waterboarding would be a reward for good behavior.

It might be: Waterboarding PLUS amputating the prisoner’s healthy arm, or waterboarding PLUS killing the prisoner. But waterboarding on the order of what we did at Guantanamo would be a reward in a Japanese POW camp.

To claim that the Japanese – architects of the Bataan Death March – were prosecuted for “waterboarding” would be like saying Ted Bundy was executed for engaging in sexual harassment.

What the Japanese did to their POWs made even the Nazis blanch. The Japanese routinely beheaded and bayoneted prisoners; forced prisoners to dig their own graves and then buried them alive; amputated prisoners’ healthy arms and legs, one by one, for sport; force-fed prisoners dry rice and then filled their stomachs with water until their bowels exploded; and injected them with chemical weapons in order to observe, time and record their death throes before dumping them in mass graves.

While only 4 percent of British and American troops captured by German or Italian forces died in captivity, 27 percent of British and American POWs captured by the Japanese died in captivity. Japanese war crimes were so atrocious that even rape was treated as only a secondary war crime in the Tokyo trial, similar to what happens during an R. Kelly trial.

The Japanese “water cure” was to “waterboarding” as practiced at Guantanamo what rape at knifepoint is to calling your secretary “honey.”

The Japanese version of “waterboarding” was to fill the prisoner’s stomach with water until his stomach was distended – and then pound on his stomach, causing the prisoner to vomit.

Or they would jam a stick into the prisoner’s nose so he could breathe only through his mouth and then pour water in his mouth so he would choke to death.

Or they would “waterboard” the prisoner with saltwater, which would kill him.

Meanwhile, the alleged “torture” under the Bush administration consists of things like:

• “failing to respect a Serbian national holiday”; or
• “forgetting to wear plastic gloves while handling a Quran.”

Finding out who started the tall tale about “waterboarding” being treated as a war crime after World War II would take the talents of a forensic historian, someone like Christina Hoff Sommers.

After years of hearing the feminist “fact” that emergency room admissions for women beaten by their husbands soared by 40 percent on Super Bowl Sundays, Sommers traced it back to an unsubstantiated rumination erupting from a feminist rap session.

But the lunatic claim was passed around with increasing credibility until it ended up being cited as hard fact in the New York Times, the Boston Globe and on “Good Morning America.”

One of the earliest entries in the “waterboarding as war crimes” myth must be this October 2006 article in the Washington Post, citing a case raised by Sen. Teddy Kennedy – and heaven knows Kennedy understands the horrors of a near-drowning:

“Twenty-one years earlier, in 1947, the United States charged a Japanese officer, Yukio Asano, with war crimes for carrying out another form of waterboarding on a U.S. civilian. The subject was strapped on a stretcher that was tilted so that his feet were in the air and head near the floor, and small amounts of water were poured over his face, leaving him gasping for air until he agreed to talk.”

Even if that description of what Asano did were true – and it isn’t – the only relevant word in the entire paragraph is “civilian.”

Any mistreatment of a civilian is a war crime. So every other part of that paragraph is utterly irrelevant to the treatment of prisoners of war, much less non-uniformed enemy combatants at Guantanamo, who could have been shot on sight under the laws of war.

What Americans need to understand is that under liberals’ own “laws of war,” they will invent apocryphal incidents from history in order to give aid and comfort to America’s enemies and to undermine those who kept us safe for the past eight years.

Star Parker: Back on Uncle Sam’s Plantation

Six years ago I wrote a book called “Uncle Sam’s Plantation.” I wrote the book to tell my own story of what I saw living inside the welfare state and my own transformation out of it.

I said in that book that indeed there are two Americas. A poor America on socialism and a wealthy America on capitalism.

I talked about government programs like Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), Job Opportunities and Basic Skills Training (JOBS), Emergency Assistance to Needy Families with Children (EANF), Section 8 Housing, and Food Stamps.

A vast sea of perhaps well intentioned government programs, all initially set into motion in the 1960’s, that were going to lift the nation’s poor out of poverty.

A benevolent Uncle Sam welcomed mostly poor black Americans onto the government plantation. Those who accepted the invitation switched mindsets from “How do I take care of myself?” to “What do I have to do to stay on the plantation?”

Instead of solving economic problems, government welfare socialism created monstrous moral and spiritual problems. The kind of problems that are inevitable when individuals turn responsibility for their lives over to others.

The legacy of American socialism is our blighted inner cities, dysfunctional inner city schools, and broken black families.

Through God’s grace, I found my way out. It was then that I understood what freedom meant and how great this country is.

I had the privilege of working on welfare reform in 1996, passed by a Republican congress and signed into law by a Democrat president. A few years after enactment, welfare roles were down fifty percent.

I thought we were on the road to moving socialism out of our poor black communities and replacing it with wealth producing American capitalism.

But, incredibly, we are going in the opposite direction.

Instead of poor America on socialism becoming more like rich American on capitalism, rich America on capitalism is becoming like poor America on socialism.

Uncle Sam has welcomed our banks onto the plantation and they have said, “Thank you, Suh.”

Now, instead of thinking about what creative things need to be done to serve customers, they are thinking about what they have to tell Massah in order to get their cash.

There is some kind of irony that this is all happening under our first black president on the 200th anniversary of the birthday of Abraham Lincoln.

Worse, socialism seems to be the element of our new young president. And maybe even more troubling, our corporate executives seem happy to move onto the plantation.

In an op-ed on the opinion page of the Washington Post, Mr. Obama is clear that the goal of his trillion dollar spending plan is much more than short term economic stimulus.

“This plan is more than a prescription for short-term spending-it’s a strategy for America’s long-term growth and opportunity in areas such as renewable energy, health care, and education.”

Perhaps more incredibly, Obama seems to think that government taking over an economy is a new idea. Or that massive growth in government can take place “with unprecedented transparency and accountability.”

Yes, sir, we heard it from Jimmy Carter when he created the Department of Energy, the Synfuels Corporation, and the Department of Education.

Or how about the Economic Opportunity Act of 1964 — The War on Poverty — which President Johnson said “…does not merely expand old programs or improve what is already being done. It charts a new course. It strikes at the causes, not just the consequences of poverty.”

Trillions of dollars later, black poverty is the same. But black families are not, with triple the incidence of single parent homes and out of wedlock births.

It’s not complicated. Americans can accept Barack Obama’s invitation to move onto the plantation. Or they can choose personal responsibility and freedom.

Does anyone really need to think about what the choice should be?

Rush Limbaugh: Mr. President, Keep the Airwaves Free

Dear President Obama:

I have a straightforward question, which I hope you will answer in a straightforward way: Is it your intention to censor talk radio through a variety of contrivances, such as “local content,” “diversity of ownership,” and “public interest” rules — all of which are designed to appeal to populist sentiments but, as you know, are the death knell of talk radio and the AM band?

You have singled me out directly, admonishing members of Congress not to listen to my show. Bill Clinton has since chimed in, complaining about the lack of balance on radio. And a number of members of your party, in and out of Congress, are forming a chorus of advocates for government control over radio content. This is both chilling and ominous.

As a former president of the Harvard Law Review and a professor at the University of Chicago Law School, you are more familiar than most with the purpose of the Bill of Rights: to protect the citizen from the possible excesses of the federal government. The First Amendment says, in part, that “Congress shall make no law abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press.” The government is explicitly prohibited from playing a role in refereeing among those who speak or seek to speak. We are, after all, dealing with political speech — which, as the Framers understood, cannot be left to the government to police.

When I began my national talk show in 1988, no one, including radio industry professionals, thought my syndication would work. There were only about 125 radio stations programming talk. And there were numerous news articles and opinion pieces predicting the fast death of the AM band, which was hemorrhaging audience and revenue to the FM band. Some blamed the lower-fidelity AM signals. But the big issue was broadcast content. It is no accident that the AM band was dying under the so-called Fairness Doctrine, which choked robust debate about important issues because of its onerous attempts at rationing the content of speech.

After the Federal Communications Commission abandoned the Fairness Doctrine in the mid-1980s, Congress passed legislation to reinstitute it. When President Reagan vetoed it, he declared that “This doctrine . . . requires Federal officials to supervise the editorial practices of broadcasters in an effort to ensure that they provide coverage of controversial issues and a reasonable opportunity for the airing of contrasting viewpoints of those issues. This type of content-based regulation by the Federal Government is . . . antagonistic to the freedom of expression guaranteed by the First Amendment. . . . History has shown that the dangers of an overly timid or biased press cannot be averted through bureaucratic regulation, but only through the freedom and competition that the First Amendment sought to guarantee.”

Today the number of radio stations programming talk is well over 2,000. In fact, there are thousands of stations that air tens of thousands of programs covering virtually every conceivable topic and in various languages. The explosion of talk radio has created legions of jobs and billions in economic value. Not bad for an industry that only 20 years ago was moribund. Content, content, content, Mr. President, is the reason for the huge turnaround of the past 20 years, not “funding” or “big money,” as Mr. Clinton stated. And not only has the AM band been revitalized, but there is competition from other venues, such as Internet and satellite broadcasting. It is not an exaggeration to say that today, more than ever, anyone with a microphone and a computer can broadcast their views. And thousands do.

Mr. President, we both know that this new effort at regulating speech is not about diversity but conformity. It should be rejected. You’ve said you’re against reinstating the Fairness Doctrine, but you’ve not made it clear where you stand on possible regulatory efforts to impose so-called local content, diversity-of-ownership, and public-interest rules that your FCC could issue.

I do not favor content-based regulation of National Public Radio, newspapers, or broadcast or cable TV networks. I would encourage you not to allow your office to be misused to advance a political vendetta against certain broadcasters whose opinions are not shared by many in your party and ideologically liberal groups such as Acorn, the Center for American Progress, and MoveOn.org. There is no groundswell of support behind this movement. Indeed, there is a groundswell against it.

The fact that the federal government issues broadcast licenses, the original purpose of which was to regulate radio signals, ought not become an excuse to destroy one of the most accessible and popular marketplaces of expression. The AM broadcast spectrum cannot honestly be considered a “scarce” resource. So as the temporary custodian of your office, you should agree that the Constitution is more important than scoring transient political victories, even when couched in the language of public interest.

We in talk radio await your answer. What will it be? Government-imposed censorship disguised as “fairness” and “balance”? Or will the arena of ideas remain a free market?

Chuck Norris: Obama, now that you work for me …

Dear President-elect Obama:

First, congratulations on your victory. The historical magnitude of your presidential win is nothing short of stupendous and a colossal fulfillment of the American dream (an achievement embedded long ago in the equality clauses of the Declaration of Independence). Your life has served and will serve as an example to countless millions, and I pray that you will live up to that honorable position and responsibility.

Now that Democrats have a virtual monopoly over our land, with control of the White House, both houses of Congress, a majority of gubernatorial positions, state legislatures, the courts, the news media, the unions and the entertainment and educational fields, it would be relatively easy for you to rule as king, casting liberal edicts in any direction. But now will come your biggest test: Will you be able to lead the other half of the country that doesn’t agree with your vision, views and policies?

It’s no big surprise that I don’t see politically eye-to-eye with you. Actually, I stand in stark opposition to most of your politics. Still, even in our differences, I realize that we must learn to work together if we are to see our country get back on track. After Election Day, I asked myself, despite the outcome, how can I work for our new president to help better America? Then the thought occurred to me, the first question that should be answered is: How will you work for me? After all, it is “We, the People” of the Constitution for whom you are employed, correct?

So I outlined a few ways you might begin to gain the respect of those who oppose you and show that your campaign pledges to bridge the divides were not empty promises to get you into office. And these requests I make are based upon the inaugural oath you will make on Jan. 20, “I do solemnly swear that I will faithfully execute the office of president of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.” No doubt these won’t be my only suggestions through the years, but they serve as a good beginning:

1. Use and cite the Constitution. If that constitutional oath (“preserve, protect and defend”) is the central duty of your job description, then I would assume we will be hearing often from you about exactly how you are doing just that. There is no replacement for strict adherence, application and defense of the Constitution. And it’s high time that presidents quit tritely reciting the presidential oath only to abandon its tenets when they enter the Oval Office. You should be publicly quoting from the Constitution as often as a preacher quotes the Bible to his congregation – at least weekly. If you take this oath and challenge seriously, you will limit the powers of federal government, reduce taxes (for everyone), encourage the freedom of religion and expression (even in the public square) and stand up for such things as our right to bear arms. The American public and the government has lost its grip on the content and role of the Constitution, and, if you daily choose, you can help to reeducate and model its usage for them.

2. Protect American life. Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1809, “The care of human life and happiness, and not their destruction, is the first and only legitimate object of good government.” Those are powerful and enlightening words – “first and only legitimate object of good government.” Of course, such a role was created and secured in the very fabric of our nation – in the Declaration of Independence. The commitment to protect life should serve as a basis to all you do, even as a foundation for your national defense strategy or to protect human life from the womb to the grave. I’m sure the first of your secret briefings this last week on our global security threats have opened your eyes some to the extensive onslaught of our enemies. Don’t allow your pride, partisanship, personal bias or political abilities to ever jeopardize the safety of Americans lives. As commander in chief, you are called to preserve American life. Quite frankly, that is why I’m surprised that a man like you, who professes to fight for minorities, would not recognize the clear value of a human life in the womb. Federal law should not edict the sacrifice of one human life for the preference of another. Both lives should be protected. Otherwise what do Jefferson’s 1809 words mean? As president, you are called to protect (not destroy) human life – it is the “first and only legitimate object of good government.
3. Learn from the mistakes of your Democratic predecessors. I’m referring specifically to presidents Carter and Clinton. Despite how many trumpet their accomplishments today, they learned big lessons at our expense about international diplomacy and economic recovery. Carter’s diplomatic naïveté, combined with his overly altruistic belief that America’s enemies can be won by a smile and handshake, ultimately gave rise to Ahmadinejad’s Iranian regime. Furthermore, Carter’s handling of our economic affairs also led to the highest interest, inflation and unemployment rates in history. You were only a young man, I realize, but I respectfully wonder if you know of those lessons, or might be doomed to repeat them? You can increase the taxes of individuals who make more than $200,000. You can impose the same on companies and corporations. But don’t believe for a minute that they aren’t even now making plans and moving their monies into overseas accounts. Any businessman knows that such tax increases will trickle down to employees, shareholders, consumers or further tempt them to take their productivity abroad where costs are lower. And what will be the effect on our economy? Isn’t it obvious? And don’t forget this: Bush is only partially to blame for our economic woes. Remember, it was the Clinton administration in 1999 that was the primary contributor to our Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae subprime fiasco (and subsequent Wall Street bailout need), by extending billions of mortgage loans to those who wouldn’t or couldn’t ever pay them back. Though gloating over his end-term budget surplus, Clinton paved the path through his government backing of millions of toxic mortgages to low income households – all of which would turn into gargantuan balloon payments years down the road that would bankrupt corporations and lead to our economic recession.

4. Lead more from the center. It’s been pointed out by countless pundits. Your track record is clear. You have one of the most liberal records in the Senate. You’ve had the liberty of voting and fighting for an agenda “from the left,” as you’ve tried to persuade state and congressional constituents to do the same. But if you continue to lead our country down a more liberal road, you will follow the peril of Clinton as well. He stepped into office and initially tried to lift the ban on gays in the military and extend abortion rights, only to prompt the creation of a more-balanced and strong Republican Congress in the 1990s. Don’t underestimate the resurrecting power of the conservative voice. You observed in Tuesday’s election how three states across this union voted to protect marriage in their constitutions (the 28th, 29th and 30th states to do so – California, Arizona and Florida). We will be watching how you lead Pelosi and Reid. We will be observing those you select as candidates for Supreme Court justices. The election is over. No more promises. No more words. You might work well in a team, but this time you don’t have congressional members to hide behind. You’re on your own – leading the pack – and the whole country is watching. Especially me. So make sure you lead more from the center.

There is one thing I will be specifically doing for you, as you carry the weight to lead our nation. I will be praying for you. As the scripture says, “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” You have my word – I’ll be praying.

Ladies and gentlemen, it is worse than I thought.  It is worse than I thought inside the Republican Party.  What the Republican Party, led by disgruntled and failed McCain staffers are trying to do to Sarah Palin, is unconscionable and is unacceptable. 

You remember during the campaign, Bill Cunningham in Cincinnati went out at a rally for McCain, introduced McCain, well, he didn’t introduce him but he got the crowd riled up, he did a warmup for the later appearance by McCain and referred to Obama with his full name, Barack Hussein Obama.  McCain went into a tizzy and denounced Cunningham and he denounced all kinds of other people who were supporting McCain and trying to rally supporters for McCain.  Any time they said anything about Obama that McCain didn’t like, something as innocuous as mentioning his middle name, McCain denounced them, distanced himself.  You wonder why the Republican Party lost in North Carolina.  Remember the great ads the North Carolina Republican Party ran and McCain denounced them, demanded they pull the ads down?

Now, where is Senator McCain today when members of his own staff are trying to destroy Sarah Palin?  I haven’t heard a word.  In fact, all I’ve heard about Senator McCain is this from the Associated Press-Obama:  “During the campaign, McCain staunchly opposed setting a deadline even as the Iraqi government began working with the Bush administration to do so.  But in conceding the presidency to Obama, McCain pledged ‘to do all in my power to help him lead us through the many challenges we face.’  Aides said they believed McCain would work well with Obama as president because much of his best work in the Senate had been done with Democrats, including a landmark campaign finance law he crafted with Wisconsin Sen. Russ Feingold,” and the unsuccessful effort with Ted Kennedy to pass comprehensive immigration reform.  “Democrats, who padded their majorities in the House and Senate, have a suggestion: McCain can mediate solutions to partisan standoffs on key legislation.” Chuck-U Schumer, New York Democrat:  “There’s a need for the old John McCain, a leader who worked in a bipartisan way.”

So the Democrats, they’re out there, they want McCain to come back and be some kind of a liaison from the Obama White House to the Senate.  The old John McCain’s back, the guy who worked with the Democrats.  Where is he denouncing his own staff dumping all over Sarah Palin?  Let me tell you why they’re dumping all over Sarah Palin.  They are dumping all over Sarah Palin because she is conservative.  This is why I say it is worse than I thought.  I knew during the campaign, I knew during the primaries that we had a bunch of different coalitions now making up the Republican Party and that all those other coalitions were doing everything they could to dismantle and dismember conservatism and to render it inoperative in the Republican Party.  We all knew this.  One of the purposes of the country club blue-blood Republicans was to find a candidate, go out and reach to the other side, bring in Democrats, bring in independents and so forth, and that would be the magic formula to go out and win.  And then support comprehensive immigration reform, because big business wants it for cheap labor and that’s going to get the Hispanic vote.  We see the results.  They were all wrong, the strategies were all wrong, they were a dismal failure.  

So now Sarah Palin, who was the one person in this campaign that brought the Republican base back into the fold, that fired them up, that inspired them, that excited them, we all saw the turnout where she went, we all saw her speeches.  Their focusing here on one Katie Couric interview, but some of the things that they are saying about her are just unconscionable and unacceptable, and they have been leaking this stuff from inside the McCain campaign.  We need to know who these people are for future reference down the line.  Now, Carl Cameron did a report on Fox last night, he was on the O’Reilly factor and he’s now been everywhere on Fox because people have been leaking to him, but it’s not just Fox and Carl Cameron.  Newsweek has a Special Project, they call it, on Sarah Palin, the purpose of which is to destroy Sarah Palin and, of course, establish The Anointed One. 

It’s worse than I thought. There are country club blue-blood moderate Republicans who want nothing to do with a firebrand conservative in the Republican Party who can fire up people, who can inspire people, who can motivate them.

This Newsweek Special Project is amazing. “Newsweek has also learned that Palin’s shopping spree at high-end department stores was more extensive than previously reported.” Now, why? Why do this? Who benefits from this? Who gains from this kind of story running right now? She’s back in Alaska. The campaign’s over. The election’s over and we got more stories on her wardrobe and how she’s a diva? Who in the world makes out okay if this happens? And, see, when you ask the question of who benefits, it’s amazing how the seas do part and enlightenment shoves your way and you can see exactly what’s going on. Listen to this. “While publicly supporting Palin –” right. Publicly supporting her? We had leaks trying to cream her during the campaign. “– McCain’s top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous profligacy. One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family — clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards.

“The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent ‘tens of thousands’ more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband. Some articles of clothing have apparently been lost. An angry aide characterized the shopping spree as ‘Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus from coast to coast,’ and said the truth will eventually come out when the Republican Party audits its books. A Palin aide said: ‘Governor Palin was not directing staffers to put anything on their personal credit cards, and anything that staffers put on their credit cards has been reimbursed, like an expense. Nasty and false accusations following a defeat say more about the person who made them than they do about Governor Palin.’”

So what’s going on here is two things: an effort to blame her for the loss, all this talk about she dragged the ticket down, which is an absolute laugher, it is an absolute joke and an effort to damage her for the future. It’s unconscionable what is happening and what they’re doing to Sarah Palin in our own party. Let me ask you this, folks. Will smearing a classy and upbeat conservative star make her more or less popular with the Republican base? If she decides to remain a public figure, she will be a very popular national figure, and I don’t think she’s gonna be intimidated by anybody regarding her decision whatever she wants to do, but that is the precise reason that they’re going after her on our side. McCain moderates don’t care for conservatives. We know this. McCain moderates are not welcome going forward in our party, as far as I’m concerned, especially now that Obama wants McCain to be a liaison between his administration and the Senate, because the good McCain’s back, the old good John McCain, the guy that votes with Democrats, and Chuck-U Schumer, I mean that’s the kind of resume we want, right? We want a resume, we want a guy who claims that the real McCain, Chuck Schumer defining for us who the real McCain is, that’s the guy we want back, right?

It just makes me mad, folks, put plain and simple, it infuriates me. It’s beyond low. Look at what she did. She’s minding her own business up there in Alaska; she didn’t campaign for the veep job. So they call her up, ’cause they need a Hail Mary, they’re admitting when they say they needed a Hail Mary that their own candidate was going nowhere. They need a Hail Mary, so what did she do? She dragged herself and her entire family all over the fruited plain without missing a beat. She was unfailingly cheerful. She was a spot of sunshine in an abysmal election year. And now they’re upset at her because of all the rumors about going rogue and so forth. Wait ’til you hear, if you haven’t heard this yet we’re going to play after the break what Carl Cameron reported he was told on O’Reilly’s Fox show last night by McCain staffers.

Here’s the first of a couple sound bites with Carl Cameron.  This is last night on the O’Reilly Factor:

CAMERON:  Early on, they began to discover that there were these gaps in her knowledge.  I just want to rattle off a couple of the things that insiders say she just simply didn’t know.  There were real problems with basic civics, government structures; municipal state and federal government responsibilities.  She didn’t know the nations involved in the North American Free Trade Agreement, we’re told.  She didn’t understand, McCain aides told me today, that Africa was a continent and not a country, and actually asked them — they argue, they say — if South Africa wasn’t just part of the country as opposed to a country in the continent.  They go on to say that she didn’t understand the idea of American exceptionalism, a classic principle of Wilsonian doctrine that says that the United States is exceptional in the world and has therefore a very special role in leading the globe.

RUSH:  I don’t believe any of this, and what kills it for me is that she “didn’t understand…American exceptionalism.” She’s the only one in the McCain campaign who did understand American exceptionalism, and had to drag the rest of the campaign kicking and screaming into the concept.  We never heard about American exceptionalism from our own party ’til Sarah Palin showed up.  This South African… Not knowing the countries in Africa?  Not knowing how the federal government works? She’s governor of Alaska, for crying out loud!  This is just a smear job.  She is being smeared worse than anybody in the McCain campaign went after Obama or any of his questionable allies.

CAMERON:  There are stories that say she would look at her press clippings in the morning and throw what has been described to me as “tantrums.”  One of the more infamous stories that’s now come out is there was a time when McCain staffers went to collect her at her hotel room and she had just stepped out of the shower and essentially met them wrapped in a bathrobe.  They were taken aback by that.  They have suggested that she’s a bit of a shopoholic and that on more than one occasion she would go out and buy clothes that to many seemed unnecessary because the campaign had already provided her with a very large wardrobe, uh, a wardrobe that famously rang up a bill of $150,000, mostly because they bought extra sizes to make sure everything fit.

RUSH: (laughing) So this is Carl Cameron last night on Fox detailing what had been told to him.  Carl Cameron, by the way, is the voice of the McCain insiders, I should point out.  So they’re dumping on Sarah Palin, and you have to ask yourself: “Why?  Who benefits from this happening to Sarah Palin?”

You might ask, “Why is Carl Cameron spewing all this stuff?” Okay, so somebody inside the McCain campaign reports it to him, but why does he spew all this stuff out there? I guess to have a scoop. I don’t know. But it’s quite telling, it is quite instructive here, ladies and gentlemen, as if we conservatives aren’t angry enough with Obama and McCain, the fact is we’re going to have to defeat ‘em both now, all over again. So I’m just going to warn you, there’s going to be a McCain-somebody, comprehensive immigration bill, which will result in the migration of more nonpaying Democrat voters. This I cannot believe and I’m going to deal with this as the program unfolds before your very eyes and ears today. The wizards of smart on our side are all out there talking about how Obama’s going to govern from the center. (laughing) They have learned nothing! I don’t even think that this is wishful thinking, or hopefulness.

I think it’s pure ignorance that Obama’s going to govern from the center.

Two more sound bites here on Sarah Palin and we’ll move on.  This is from DNCTV this morning, Peter Alexander on Palin’s shopping spree.

ALEXANDER:  An angry McCain aide characterized the shopping spree as “Wasilla hillbillies looting Neiman Marcus coast to coast.”  In fact, they may have spent as much as 20 to $40,000 for clothes on Todd, 20 to $35,000 on clothes for the children, as one staffer had joked, there were also some Gucci shoes being worn by those kids.  

RUSH:  Now, it’s beyond the pale because this is our own party leaking to the Drive-By Media to destroy Sarah Palin.  This is a clear indication, my friends, of what is happening.  They’re attacking Sarah Palin and they’re the ones that picked her, or McCain did.  They’re destroying Sarah Palin, and you have to ask why, what possible benefit is it right now?  And the only benefit I can see is to make sure she doesn’t rise again as a force for conservatism in the Republican Party.  There’s no other reason to do this.  You can chalk it up to, “Well, maybe they just personally don’t like her,” that’s fine and dandy, but this is suicidal.  And I’ll tell you something else, the people that are doing this, it must really matter, because they are running a huge risk of never getting hired again.  Somebody runs for office, presidential candidate on the Republican side, why would you hire any of these people?  A, they’re the architects of a huge defeat, and B, they’re out now trying to destroy their own vice presidential nominee.  I have an idea of one of the names but I’m not going to mention because I can’t prove it, so I don’t know.  But it’s obviously more than one person and it’s obviously somebody, somebody’s doing this.  Whoever it is has just shown stripes.  This is mind-boggling.  It’s worse than I thought.  Here’s Palin last night, herself, after she had landed back in Alaska.  An unidentified reporter asked her about all these allegations.

PALIN:  That’s kind of a small, evidently bitter type of person who would anonymously charge something foolish like that that I perhaps didn’t know an answer to a question.  So until I know who — who is talking about it, I won’t have a comment on false allegations.

RUSH:  So, that’s Sarah Palin responding to it trying to take the high road and stay above it.  She does raise an interesting point.  Why did this person just go out and blab everything to Carl Cameron at Fox?  Why not just go on camera with Carl Cameron?  Why not just put this out there in your own voice and with your own face on camera?  Go ahead and do it on CNN, go do it on ABC.  Why do this on Fox?  Folks, this is quite telling the way this is all shaking out.  These operatives who are leaking, these are the people who work for moderate Republicans.  They will work for anyone who will pay them.  They are leaking to cover their own butts because they are failures.  They are the architects of the failure of this campaign.  Now, there’s something that happened. I didn’t talk about it because I was trying to stay upbeat and positive.  The last thing I wanted to do was participate here in dispiriting you.  But there was a piece at The Politico.com about two weeks before the election and it was telling, especially now looking at it in hindsight.  It was amazing.  It was a story filled with anonymous leaks, quotes from anonymous people on how horrible the McCain campaign was, how rotten the candidate himself was. 

All of these campaign aides were trying to cover their own rear ends.  They were going out there and blaming other campaign aides for things that went wrong, the choice of Palin, why McCain looked like Yosemite Sam prancing around when the dynamite failed to go off at half the debates.  It was a circular firing squad, and at the time, the way it was interpreted was, okay, the campaign knows they’re going to lose, and these staffers want to work on another campaign, so they’re out there covering their bases, firing anonymous shots at all the other campaign staffers, blaming them and blaming him and blaming her and all that.  And The Politico story put out, okay, this is the first sign this thing is over.  McCain people know they’re going to lose, so the campaign staff now trying to protect themselves.  That’s what this Palin thing is, in part.  This Palin thing, these leakers are the kind of people who work for moderate Republicans.  They’ll work for anybody who will pay them, and they’re leaking to cover their own butts now because they are failures.  That is precisely what is happening here. 

By the way, folks, notice one thing here.  When these moderate Republicans, when these McCain staffers go after Sarah Palin, they’re not going after her ideas, are they?  They’re not trashing her ideas.  No, no, no, no, no.  They’re not trashing her support for low marginal tax rates, are they?  They’re not trashing her ideas on immigration.  They’re not trashing her ideas on energy, which are better than McCain’s.  They can’t go after her views because going after her views would go after the Republican base, and they still want to pretend that they’re interested in the Republican base. So they’re trashing her personally.  They’re trashing her as a person, ’cause that’s all they have left.  Not even Bob Shrum was this low!  Bob Shrum is a perennial loser on the Democrat side managing Democrat presidential campaigns, and not even he went after the people that worked with him in this way.  

Now, you might also say, “Hey, if they’d have won, it would have been all different.”  I don’t think so.  I do not think so.  This is personal.  I think if they had won, there would still be an effort against Palin right now to get her off the ticket and get somebody else in there as vice president, if they had won. I’ll tell you something else we need to do.  As long as we’re on the subject here, we didn’t even pick our nominee.  Can we remember this?  We did not pick the nominee.  The Democrats and the media picked our nominee.  What you people in the McCain campaign and everywhere else need a to start doing in the Republican Party, is close our primaries in states that you have ‘em open where Democrats and independents can cross over and select our nominee.  

The Democrats hated Operation Chaos.  Remember that?  They said, “This is unconstitutional!  Horrible.” It was nothing!  This was one small attempt to duplicate what they’ve been doing for years, selecting our nominee.  So I’ll make a deal: Democrats pick the Democrat nominee; Republicans pick the Republican nominee.  We don’t need Democrats and the media picking both nominees.  And that is what has happened here.  Now look. I’ve run out of time here to play these sound bites.  That’s what I’m in.  There’s a lot to do on this program.  It’s unfolding very fast, these sound bites about who is Obama.  But these are juicy.  We’ll save ‘em for the monologue section the top of the next hour.  Here’s Bart in Manahawkin, New Jersey.  It’s great to have you, sir, on the Rush Limbaugh program.

CALLER:  Hey, Rush.  How you doing?

RUSH:  Yes, sir.  Fine.

CALLER:  Good, good.  I’ve been listening to you since you had Gorbasms and caller abortions, but I loved it.  Listen, I wanted to bring up a point.  The moderates who are running McCain’s campaign, by saying that Sarah Palin wasn’t a great pick and she has all these problems and so forth, aren’t they basically saying that John McCain made a terrible choice there for vice president; there’s something wrong with his pick?

RUSH:  Well, yeah, you could… (laughing) Haven’t we already established the problem there, long before the pick?  I don’t want to pile on Senator McCain here.  We don’t know that Senator McCain is the one doing the dumping.  All we know is he’s not renouncing his own people who are dumping on her.  You know, why didn’t whoever did this pick some other network? Why did they dump it on Fox? Why’s Fox allowing itself to be used like this?

CALLER:  Oh, sure.  Fox is the one. Fox obviously goes to more conservatives and Republicans than they do to on the other side.  That’s why they picked him.

RUSH:  Look, of course throw in McCain’s judgment on this, but he’s out there. He did defend her.  He defended her quite a bit whenever she came under attack during the campaign.  He hasn’t spoken up since.

Rush Limbaugh: Time to cleanse Republican Party

Radio host Rush Limbaugh, the loudest conservative voice in American today blasted John McCain’s presidential campaign as weak and said Barack Obama’s election as president is an opportunity to purge the Republican Party of candidates who abandon conservative principles.

“McCain’s whole campaign was a concession speech,” said Limbaugh in his post-election analysis. “We’ve now demonstrated to everyone how to lose.”

Limbaugh dismissed any notion that victories by Democrats in the White House and Congress meant a repudiation of right-leaning principles.

 

Limbaugh explained conservatism was not on the ballot.

“We haven’t been on the ballot since 1994,” he said, noting that if Republicans wanted to win elections, they should not put so-called “moderates” on the ballot.

“The conservative movement does not need to be rebuilt,” he said. “We had some people abandon the conservative movement, and they need to be abandoned.”

The broadcaster called last night’s results “an opportunity for cleansing … like we haven’t seen in a long time.”

Concerning Obama’s victory speech in Chicago, Limbaugh noted, “He said nothing better than anyone has ever said nothing.”

“We congratulate Obama. We recognize the historical nature. We also understand that more than him being black, he is a radical extremist who is not going to govern from the center. [Nancy] Pelosi and [Harry] Reid are not going to govern from the center. What the hell do people think they wanted to win this election for? When do liberals govern from the center? The only time they do that is when they have to when there are enough Republicans around to keep their extremism in check.

“Screw defeat!” he exclaimed.
